“A 3 hr drive from Calgary to Edmonton, it’s nothing”

The US appearing at the bottom of the WWF’s Climate Scorecard (ranking climate change performance for G8 countries) isn’t news, but Canada’s position there- given their Kyoto-signing reputation- is a bit more surprising.

When measuring change in climate change performance, Canada also ranks below their southern neighbor and way below Europe: the CO2 emissions for the EU-15 rose just 3% between 1993 and 2003, for the US, 13.7% and for Canada, 27%.

Why do Canadians have such a large carbon footprint? We asked some Vancouver residents for their opinions.
