A rotary composter and a flow through worm bin

Can-o-worms, worm factory, worm wigwam are all modern, trendy homes for the small pets that can make home composting so much easier.

The Skinner City Farm in Eugene, Oregon, receives hundreds of pounds of organic waste every month from restaurants participating in the city’s Resource Recovery program. To deal with these loads- brought in by bicycle- they have a couple different composting systems.

In this video, Jan VanderTuin, of the Center for Appropriate Transport (CAT), showed us their flow through worm bin and a CAT invention- a rotary composter that heats up with the sun to make compost in just weeks.

We also have videos on Eugene’s pedal-powered composting program and a high rent vermicomposter.
