A solar car that breaks speed limits

For over 2 decades students from MIT have been designing and racing a solar electric vehicle. Their latest generation car, the Tesseract, has reached speeds of over 80mph and during the North American Solar Challenge, it sustained an average speed of over 50mph for the 2,500-mile course.

For this video, members of MIT’s Solar Electric Vehicle Team (SEVT) took the car for a spin on a rainy day in Cambridge.
