Buyer’s guide to solar: from rebates to sprayable panels

Solar power is no longer just for techies or celebrities, like Leonardo DiCaprio, Carlos Santana or Edward Norton. Thanks to banks, which now consider solar to be a capital home improvement and are making financing readily available, and to the increase in state rebates- offered for solar or wind by just 3 states in 2000 has jumped to 17 in 2006- solar panels are becoming within reach of the average American.

With the new California Solar Initiative, homeowners in the Sunshine State will receive a third of the $3.2 billion in rebates over 10 years.
