Dye sensitised thin film: wearable solar that works w/o sun

A company based in Cardiff, England can transform a roll of metal foil into a half-mile roll of flexible solar material in less than three hours time. Instead of silicon, G24 Innovation uses a colored dye to capture light which keeps costs down and produces a dye sensitized thin film that is flexible enough to wear and sensitive enough to work in low light, even indoors or in the rain.

Their first product- a mobile phone charger- is for sale in Kenya where it offers a real option to those who don’t have access to the grid.

In this video, G24’s David Sogan shows us how flexible solar can be.
