Eco-faith: ordaining trees, asking “What would Jesus drive?”

While world religions have been “slow to jump on the [environmental] bandwagon”, according to the Worldwatch Institute’s Gary Gardner, they’re making up for lost time.

The What would Jesus Drive? campaign has helped promote interest in hybrid cars, the UK ezine EcoIslam educates on Islamic conservationism, and campaigns like the Evangelical Climate Initiative (there is also a Jewish version) are urging compassion for the millions of people who “could die in this century because of climate change, most of them our poorest global neighbors”.

In this video, Gary Gardner talked to us about Thai monks ordaining trees; the Ecumenical Patriarch; and why spiritual traditions are important in fighting global warming.
