Identifying good bugs in a worm bin & a DIY fly trap

Our worm bin has become overwhelmed by flying and crawling things. This scared me. I know that you should expect some bugs in your worm bin, but should I accept every critter that made its home there?

Online, I identified some of the tiny white crawling things as springtails, which appear to help break down the rougher food waste. But I also noticed plenty of fruit flies, and my whole bin looked pretty wet and frankly, gross.

For some advice on what I might be doing wrong, I called Bentley Christie of Red Worm Composting.

In this video, Christie talks about how a worm bin is an ecosystem, why springtails are great, how to make a DIY flytrap and how to prevent fruit fly investations.
