Living walls save space in minimalist Barcelona apartment

Niels and Bianca wanted to bring nature inside their Barcelona apartment. A former sewing workshop (for the bikini shop downstairs), they liked the apartment’s connection to the artisanal Gothic quarter, but they wanted to open up the space and let light flow through.

To divide the bedroom from the bathroom and the kitchen from the entryway, Designer Felipe Araújo (of Egue y Seta) brought in green walls. “This is a very simple idea: by putting two windows parallel you kind of create an indoor garden, which is also a kind of green curtain and a separating partition wall.”
