Redesigned clothing: seaweed and crabshell as fabric

The market for eco-fashion is growing rapidly, with new stores popping up across the U.S. and Europe. Designers are being challenged to continually expand their offerings and what can be used for textiles seems to know no limits.

Designer Katherine Soucie, of Sans Soucie, uses fabrics derived from some more traditional eco-textiles like soy, organic cotton, wool remnants, organic silk, as well as some more experimental, like those derived from crabshells (and other crustaceans), Crabyon, and from seaweed, Seacell.

In this video, Catherine takes us into her textile closet to talk about not just the environmental benefits, but the extreme wearability of these fabrics.
