SuChin’s low carbon diet: a solar dryer

The clothes dryer is the 2nd largest energy consuming appliance in the home, but many in the US and Canada still see the clothesline as archaic or “akin to graffiti” in a neighborhood. Now some are beginning to take back the line (Project Laundry List, Al Gore, etc).

In this video, faircompanies collaborator SuChin Pak hangs her laundry on the faircompanies clothesline, saving 3.9 pounds of CO2 emissions- the carbon footprint of machine drying a load of laundry. We also have an article on the clothesline wars, a clothesline video tribute and a video with SuChin harvesting a terrace garden.
