Most of the water we use and dispose of in our homes is not really dirty, it’s simply grey. Greywater is water from the sink, shower, and washing machine- just not the toilet- and it makes up about 50-80% of residential “waste” water.
Some countries and US states are beginning to re-write their greywater codes to allow for residents to re-use much of the water they normally send down the drain.
In this video, Laura Allen of California’s Greywater Guerrillas shows us her “very low tech greywater system” that allows her to reuse her bathroom sink water to flush the toilet.
