Shopping at farmers markets and buying organic are just baby steps in the sustainable food movement. To cut food miles to zero, avoid pesticides and help restore ecosystems, many are turning to permaculture.
Originally conceived of as “permanent agriculture“, permaculture involves making your yard edible with native plants interspersed with food crops. In this video, homeowner Mark Feichtmeir of Kenwood Permaculture takes us on a tour of his native, edible yard- complete with chicken coop and olive orchard.
Mark also showed us how permaculture works indoors, his smart home capabilities and his 96 panel solar array.
