“Washing machines are usually the best place to start with greywater because they produce a lot of water and they also have an internal pump so they’re already pumping the water somewhere.”
Laura Allen of California’s Greywater Guerrillas says it just makes sense to use your washing machine’s pump to send your laundry’s greywater to irrigate your yard.
In this video, Allen showed us the replumbed laundry room in her Oakland, California home and gave us all the details for putting it together outside: the 1 inch piping that keeps it all pressurized, the straw mulch bedding and her happy greywater-only raspberry plants.
