In response to his city’s housing crisis, Simon Becker created a prototype cabin that can be placed on any underutilized plot or rooftop (according to one study, there is space for 55,000 apartments on Berlin’s unused roofs).
Becker explains that with the same crane used to install it at a ground-level location, the small prefab can be craned up to an urban rooftop. Dubbed Cabin Spacey, in reference to its space-creating abilities, the 25-square-meter modular unit can easily be hooked up to existing utilities and infrastructure.
