Cork: a new wood floor without killing a tree

According to the World Wildlife Founcation, Mediterranean cork forests- home to endangered species like the Iberian Lynx- are among the “top biodiversity hotspots of Europe“.

But their wood is FSC-certified in many places because it’s harvested without felling trees and barely disturbing the thousands of species that live within these forests.

In this video, Tim Taylor of Seattle’s Environmental Home Center showed us some cork flooring, as well as some recently harvested cork and explained why it’s one of the most sustainable ways to cover your floors.
