Precise lighting amplifies affordable, indoor/outdoor Athens flat

When Werner Maritsas found a dated and cramped 34-square-meter apartment (366 square feet) in Thiseio, a neighborhood near the Acropolis, he began a near-complete redesign. Using choreographed LED lighting he created a space that could change with the moods and needs of his client.

Knocking down the homes’ dividing walls Maritsas opened up the space- tucking everything into the walls (kitchen, desk, storage)- so the home now embraces an ample garden. By replacing the back patio doors with a large slider that tucks completely into the wall, the home now fully opens to the outside and includes an outdoor kitchen and living room.
