We considered making our own worm bin, but after an unsuccessful hunt for adequate recycled materials- old plastic containers, wood, styrofoam- in the correct size, we decided to buy one pre-made.
We chose a Can-O-Worms bin since my brother-in-law in Sydney had had such success with his. Since composting worms aren’t the earth worms you pull from the ground (they are normally Red Wigglers), we also ordered up a bucket of worms.
It all came by mail and without much signage to warn us exactly where the worms were living, much to the delight of our daughter. Nothing like a game of worm-in-a-box to thrill the kids.
In this video, we set up our worm bin in the kitchen. And our daughter meets her new pets.
